| Custom wavefront LASIK is now
a FDA-approved procedure. 20/20 is considered perfect vision
and today's LASIK can often create better than perfect vision. Custom
LASIK maps the "fingerprint" of each person's vision imperfections,
then smoothes out the fingerprint using wavefront technology with the
laser. Dr. Boxer Wachler has pioneered the use of wavefront LASIK to correct
vision problems, including halos, from LASIK done with earlier laser technology.
He published the landmark LASIK studies with wider diameter laser optical
zones which are used for "Anti-Halo LASIK". as well as "Wavefront
guided LASIK treatments."
BWVI was one of the first facilities in the United States to acquire
this advanced FDA-approved technology. Dr. Boxer Wachler has been selected
as one the few surgeons in the country to teach other surgeons custom
wavefront LASIK by Alcon, the world's largest eyecare company.
LASIK involves creating a thin flap in the outer layer of the cornea.
The flap is carefully moved aside and the laser is used to reshape the
cornea. The flap is replaced and bonds without stitches. It is
typically a painless 5-10 minute procedure that requires no needles or
shots, only numbing drops. LASIK can treat nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness
(hyperopia), astigmatism, and partially treat presbyopia (age related
loss of close vision).
At the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute, we are committed to superceding
the average standard of care. Safety is of utmost importance and we have
taken every measure to ensure that you will receive the highest quality
of care available in today's industry. All-laser LASIK with Intralase
is an option for select patients.
